2017 Special Project Campaign

Our Special Project goal this year is to totally fund the 2017 and 2018 Lucile Packard Hospital for Children Stanford Transplant Camps by raising $90,000.00.

Each year, children ages 8 to 18 who have received solid organ transplants (kidney, liver, bowel, heart, lung and combinations) are invited to attend Transplant Camp.  St. Dorothy's Rest, located about 2 hours north of Palo Alto in the small town of Camp Meeker, CA, generously partners with LPCH to provide the facility for the weeklong camp.

This camp is 100% free for patients and is only funded by donations.  Nurses, child life specialists, and other Hospital personnel attend the camp each year in order to provide for the medical and social needs of these special children. Transportation and medical supplies also need funding.  Last year the expenses far exceeded the available funds.

Transplant Camp provides an opportunity for approximately 60 children who have undergone many serious procedures to experience nature, art, and a week of bonding with their peers.  It is a fun-filled, unique experience for these kids. Parents get a respite knowing that their children are having a wonderful experience in a very safe setting. For many families, the week at camp is the only time parents and kids have a break from the daily regimen of transplant recovery.

Whether a continuing donor or a new donor, your contribution will truly make a positive difference in the lives of these children.
